Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Zaharah Ishak graduated with Bachelor in Civil Engineering (Hons) UiTM Shah Alam Malaysia followed by MSc. in Highway and Transportation Engineering from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and has obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Transport System Engineering from the University of South Australia, Adelaide Australia in 2010.
Her career started as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FKA), UiTM Shah Alam. She was seconded to the Malaysian Institute of Transport (MITRANS), UiTM for the first time as Head of Public Transport & Sustainable Development Centre for four (4) years. She was further promoted to the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) under the Ministry of Transport (MOT) for five (5) years - holding a post as a Director of Road Engineering & Environment Research Centre (REER) for three (3) years and as a Director-General of MIROS for two (2) years. She was then appointed as the Deputy Director (Industrial Linkages & Commercialisation) at MITRANS, UiTM Shah Alam for three (3 years). Currently, she is appointed as the Director-General of MIROS for the second time.
She is actively involved in various professional organisations at the national and international level, such as the Cabinet Committee on Road Congestion and the Cabinet Committee on Road Safety in Malaysia chaired by the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Technical Committee in Road Safety in the World Road Association (PIARC), Technical Committee in Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australiasia (REAAA), Council Member and Chairperson of Research & Development Committee in Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM), Council Member in Intelligent Transportation Systems Association (ITS) Malaysia, Council Member in Highway And Transportation Engineering Technical Division (HTETD), Institution of Engineer Malaysia (IEM). Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Zaharah has obtained her professional qualification as a Professional Technologist (Ts) in Transportation and Logistics from the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and a Chartered Member from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
Her areas of expertise are road safety, public transport and transportation system engineering that covers road & rail. Her vast experience has contributed a lot towards research, publications, training, consultancy, and teaching – undergraduates and postgraduates from UiTM and other public and private universities in Malaysia.
